These flashcards have been created to teach beginning photographers. They are filled with 46 double spread pages of my most essential photography tips and information. The book is a 5"x5" construction, spiral bound with UV coated pages for durability. There is information and some of my favorite portraits to exemplify each point being taught. These flashcards cover:

Canon v. Tamaron

After attending the workshop Saturday, my sister in law Michel was desperately wanting to find a new lens with a wider apeture.  Currently low on funds (for photography anyway), she decided to browse KSL Classifieds (similar to Craig's List).  She found a Tamaron 28-75 2.8 lens that fits a Canon mount.  They were asking around $200.  These are the lenses new:  Canon 24-70L 2.8 and Tamaron 28-75 2.8

I have the Canon version and Michel bought the Tamaron lens.  We decided to put them to the test.

Michel took both pictures with the same camera (Canon 40d).  They have the same light source but are taken at a slightly different angle which could account for some of the color variation.   The top picture is Tamaron and the bottom picture is Canon.  I think that the Canon lens was easier to focus.  The price difference REALLY makes the matter much more interesting!

UPDATE: JUNE'S WORKSHOP IS FULL...AND HOMEWORK WILL BE OUT SHORTLY! AUGUST STILL HAS OPENINGS!!!!!!!!

These images are from the last {CREATE} WORKSHOP we held on March 14th! I loved every minute of it...and I hope the participants did too! The Creative Arts Academy is a wonderful spot to learn, the participants were fantastic...and I couldn't have had better models! (Thank you Erica, Molly and Hank!)

I will teach two more workshops this year-- June 20th and August 8th. I only have two more spots in June and quite a few open in August. This workshop is for BEGINNERS. I have been asked to teach more advanced photography--- but what I teach is what I use day to day. I teach all of my participants how to use the full functions of the SLR cameras (removable lens). Through preparatory homework and the workshop itself-- I teach my participants manual photography. They learn how to use shutter speed, aperture, and ISO to {CREATE} the images they see in their minds. I also teach finding/using good light, creative, composition, and posing tips. There are many people who love photography and have wonderful equipment (cameras, lenses, etc...) and are not yet using them to their full capabilities. This is what I LOVE...teaching people to understand the technique so they can begin creating beautiful images-- and doing what they love.

If you want to learn--- I would love to have you! Feel free to email me @ carindavisphotography@gmail.com.

new workshop dates!!!!!!!!

Workshops are so fun for me to hold. I love teaching people how to use their cameras. There are many people with wonderful equipment that know there is so much potential in their hands (camera) yet not sure what it is or how to tap into it. That is exactly what we seek to discover in my CREATE workshop. The workshop is for those with an SLR camera (removable lens) that are a BEGINNERS in photography. I will be teaching the participants how to maximize the features of their cameras, learn to photograph manually and learn creative and compositional techniques. You will receive homework assignments to prepare you for the workshop and then apply it through out the whole day. Remember, this is for beginners. If you are currently accepting clients in photography this isn't the workshop for you.
